What is UAE National Day
UAE National Day, a celebration of pride and unity and a long-awaited national holiday will be a good reason to stay outdoors. Held on the 2nd of December each year National Day in the UAE marks the union between the seven emirates, and nationalisation from the British Protectorate to form the United Arab Emirates in 1971. Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al Quwain, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah make up the seven states of the UAE.
What happens on National Day
On this 47th National Day you can see the flag colours of the UAE in abundance. From cars fully decorated and on parade, to flags flying high from the rooftops and a special laser show at the Burj Khalifa Tower come and join three days of celebrations with a local flavour.
This year will see a special celebration to honour the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, with a show to remind everyone of the inspiring story of how one man laid the foundations for the UAE, that we all now love and enjoy. The official celebration held under the theme “This is Zayed” will start on December 2 at Zayed Sports City Stadium. For one night only you have a chance to become a part of this historic celebration, which will include a show that will take spectators through an immersive experience of live performances and digital art. Tickets for the show are already on sale, so hurry up to reserve a spot.
In addition to the main celebration, there will be many entertainment and festivities held across Dubai, including the following neighbourhoods: JBR, Festival City, City Walk, La Mer, Global Village, Dubai Downtown and largest shopping malls offering mega sales.
National Day Fireworks, perhaps, is one of the most spectacular shows of the day. On the eve of National Day, the sky will light up with fireworks in different locations in the colours of the national flag. Outdoor fairs, kids activities, concerts and competitions teamed up with great offers from the local and international dining venues will make this day a truly unforgettable one for you and your family.
So what are you waiting for? Get ready to take part in the festive spirit and hospitality of the Emirati culture, wave a flag, savour a feast of local foods – there is plenty to choose from on this day of happiness.
